Happy Fall Ya'll

Happy Fall Ya'll!
I love to decorate for fall! Fall just seems like such a cozy season! And the colors just call to me! I love the warm rich colors of fall! My kids keep asking when we are going to put up the Halloween Decorations, but I can't get myself to take down my fall one's!
Here are just a few areas around the house!

Love to Look!

I love love love to look at houses! I could drive around all day doing it! Old, new, big, small! I love them all! These are just a few pictures of houses that I have taken over the last little while. I thought it would be fun to share a few!
This is a model home close to me. It is very deceiving though. It looks very small on the outside, but it is actually just over 5000 sq. ft.! I know I didn't believe it either! I love the outside. Wish I had a better picture.

This is the infamous Winchester Mansion.

This on is an old school house on Alcatraz Island. I love this picture!

I really loved this house. One of the only single "houses" I saw in San Fran.

The Saint George LDS Temple

This was a Parade of homes in St. George, Utah. I love the French Country look of the house! The inside was to DIE for!

This is one of my very favorites. The white fence just tops it off! The cream stucco, the rock, the chimney's and the black shutters! I just think everything on this house coordinates so well together!

Loved the wrap around porch on this one! Porches is a must have in my book!

This picture doesn't look like much. But trust me this is a darling house in person. Notice the porch swing on the right hand side, the window boxes on the left and the black door with the wreath on it. She always has this house decorated so cute for the holidays!
Last but not least! I love this house too! All it is missing is a front porch!

Wedding Cake Challenge

A few months back my mother-in-law called me and asked me if I would be interested in making my brother-in-law's wedding cake. The cake was going to be for an open house they were having a couple of weeks after their wedding. I agreed to the challenge and thought it might actually be a little fun to take it on.
I browsed the internet for some wedding cakes, looking for something a little less formal since it was for an open house, and came upon cupcake wedding cakes! I guess they are the new thing! I thought that would be perfect!
It was a lot of work!!! I am not sure I will be doing one again any time some, but in the end it turned out good!
Their colors were brown, pink, and white. Here is what I came up with!
Two 8" round chocolate cakes layed on top of eachother

Rolled Fondant layed on the top
Rolled Fondant Pink and Brown dots cut out different sized round cookie cutters

Avery's Room Part II

My shopping radar proved to be faithful yet once again. We went to Lowe's the other day for something for the yard and I thought that I would go and browse through the lighting section really quick. And there it was on clearance for $37, marked down from $180! Needless to say I was very excited! I begged the hubby for it and marched it to the check out!
I have been looking for a chandeleir for my daughter's room for some time and haven't found anything for less than $100! So this was a happy day for me! It wasn't exactly what I wanted, but I knew I could change that!
I don't know if you can tell in this picture or not, but the fixture is cream. I wanted white. And the shades are a bit ugly, but I figured I could change that too!

BEFORE:

I painted the whole thing white with a stipple brush, decided to take off the shades, and sewed a long strip of material to cover the chain. I am quite happy with the results! It makes her room look so cute!
AFTER:Here is a cloese up of the chain cover

Close up of the detail!

More detail!

Before the flowers were taken off! Yucky!

Much better! I may reuse them and put pink flowers all over the whole shade. Or maybe just some trim on the top and bottom of the shade.

To Paint or Not to Paint

I have been deciding for quite some time if I should paint my master bath or not! The first two pictures below are of a master bath in a model home that I really liked. The last two are of my bathroom. The tile, trim and cabinet color is similar to mine and I really like the wall color. So, since I can't decide on what to do I need your help!

Shopping Radar!

I have what I like to call "Shopping Radar"! I will be thinking of something that I would like and then one day it just hits me! I need to go shopping!
So lately I have been thinking I need to go check out the new Crazy 8 store for school clothes for my kids. Plus I just did not want to clean the house that day! So I got all ready and right before I left I checked the mail. What do you know there was a 20 percent off coupon in the mail waiting for me! It was a sign! So I head off to the mall with 3 children, expecting only to find a few things, and I found a ton of stuff! The pictures do not show everything, but in all I found 9 pairs of jeans, 16 shirts, 1 dress, 1 pair shorts, 2 hair bows, 1 pair barrettes, 1 bracelet, 2 pair of shoes, and 1 stuffed guitar that my 3 year old insisted on having for $319! I am pretty much done shopping! And for three kids I did not think that was so shabby! And my coupon that happened to jump in my mail box before I left, saved me $60! I only paid full price for 2 items!
Thank you coupon!
